 Migraine Surgery

Migraines are severe headaches that are thought to arise from a pathologic nerve response from constricting muscles.  Patients non-responsive to medications may be candidates for botox therapy.  Botox is thought to function by either directly mediating the nerve signals or by reducing muscle contraction and thus nerve compression.  Patients in whom this technique fails may be candidates for surgery where the involved nerves are completely released from the nearby musculature or tissue.
